ABOUT
Rosie attended Live Youth Theatre, National Youth Theatre and Newcastle College's School for Performing Arts. She trained in Improvisational Comedy with The Suggestibles, a Improv comedy troupe based in Newcastle, headed by Bev Fox and Ian McLaughlin. She also collaborated with Straitjacket Comedy (now pursuing their own individual careers) in some of their off-the-wall, alternative comedy sketches.
She served as a proud committee member and Secretary of the North East of England Branch of Equity throughout '18-'19 and organised THRIVE: Building a Career in the North East and Beyond, a student and graduate event hosted at Live Theatre in January '19 giving the emerging artists of the region workshops, tips and advice aswell as a panel discussion with local industry experts.
Rosie is an actor and voice coach from Newcastle upon Tyne, trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the BA (Hons) Acting. In her final year she was chosen to represent Central in the BBC Carleton Hobbs Bursary Awards 2009 as a finalist. She returned to Central in '20-'21 to study MA Voice Studies and now enjoys working as a freelance voice coach and teacher alongside her acting career.
In Oct '21 she performed in Natalie Ibu's inaugural production at Northern Stage, ROAD by Jim Cartwright. Rosie is an Associate Artist of Alphabetti Theatre, where she collaborates with a group of like-minded writers, actors and directors - she also oversaw the opening of Alphabetti's first independent venue as Theatre Manager. In recent years she has gained national press recognition for Paddy Campbell's play 'Leaving' which toured nationally in 2018 after it's premiere in 2017 at Northern Stage; received glowing reviews for her lead role in 'Overdue' by Arabella Arnott at Alphabetti; and had the honour of working on the 'Suffrage Dramas' for her second appearance in BBC Radio 3's Free Thinking Festival.
Having worked on five Verbatim Theatre pieces to date, she has become adept in the craft of performing verbatim dialogue and characters, most recently in 'Locker Room Talk' by Gary McNair at Live Theatre, Newcastle. In 2022 she will be offering a verbatim voice workshop package to share her experience through a voice lens.
"Stancliffe draws the audiences’ attention to her fingertips, bringing to life tender, bittersweet and optimistic moments." NARC Magazine
"Rosie Stancliffe is so believable and real as Beth...This was one of those situations where you feel inspired to give acting a go, she made it look easy (when quite clearly it wasn't)." The Avant Garde
